Also known as gallic acid or gallic acid, is an organic acid, can be seen in gall, lacquer, tea and other plants. Chemical formula C6H2 (OH) 3COOH. The gallic acid is soluble in water, alcohols and ethers; it has the properties of a phenol (which is easily oxidized and ferric chloride aqueous solution to produce a blue-black precipitate) and a carboxylic acid (which lacks carbon dioxide as a latent gallic acid upon heating). Gallic acid can be used as a developer, its basic bismuth salt used as a preservative, but also for the pharmaceutical industry.
