The Renaissance refers to a European ideological and cultural movement that took place in the 14th to 17th centuries to reflect the demands of the new bourgeoisie.

The concept of "renaissance" was used by Italian humanist writers and scholars in the 14th-17th centuries. People at the time believed that literature and art were highly prosperous in the Greek and Roman classical era, but in the Middle Ages, the "Dark Age" was lost and annihilated. It was not until the 14th century that it gained "regeneration" and "rejuvenation," and it was therefore called "Renaissance."
The Renaissance first sprang up in various cities in Italy and later expanded to countries in Western Europe. It reached its peak in the 16th century, brought about a period of scientific and artistic revolution, opened a prelude to the history of modern Europe, and was considered to be the boundary between the Middle Ages and modern times. The Renaissance was one of the three major modern liberation movements (Renaissance, Reformation and Enlightenment) in Western Europe.
After the 11th century, with the economic recovery and development, the rise of the city and the improvement of living standards, people gradually changed their previous pessimistic attitude towards real life and began to pursue the pleasure of secular life. These tendencies are in line with the Catholic proposition. Contrary to the fact that in the 14th century, the city’s economically prosperous Italy was the first resistance to Catholicism. Italian citizens and secular intellectuals on the one hand were extremely disgusted with Catholic theocracy and hypocritical asceticism on the other. There is no mature cultural system to replace the Catholic culture, so they use the form of reviving ancient Greek and Roman culture to express their cultural claims..Therefore, the Renaissance emphatically shows that the new culture regards classicism as a teacher's side, and not simply a classical revival. It is actually a new cultural movement against the feudalism of the bourgeoisie..
