Self-determination theory (SDT) is a relatively new theory of learning motivation and is closely related to the concept of independent learning. It starts from the inner needs of human beings and solves the energy problems caused by motives well. It also takes into account the direction and goals of motivational behavior. In this sense, it is a master of the motivation theory that previously emphasized the need and drive and the current motivation theory that emphasizes learner attribution and belief. It has unique educational significance and far-reaching research prospects.
