The Electromagnetic Catapult (EMALS) is a linear motor catapult carrier under the flight deck of the aircraft carrier. The core equipment of the electromagnetic catapult is a linear motor that pushes the armature that is connected to the aircraft.

It is a carrier-based take-off device on the aircraft carrier, which has been first equipped by the Ford aircraft carrier of the latest US launch (October 11, 2013). Compared to conventional steam ejector, electromagnetic ejection has the advantages of small volume, low requirements for onboard auxiliary systems, high efficiency, light weight, and low operating and maintenance costs. It is one of the core technologies of the future aircraft carrier.
