Waves eroded the land base along the steep coast. Where the rocks are soft, the waves erode quickly. Over time, waves have eroded an empty lot in the rock called a sea cave.

Eventually, the waves would erode the cliff base very deeply, breaking the rocks above. The result is a sea erosion cliff.

Another feature of wave erosion is the sea erosion arch bridge. When the soft rock beneath the harder rock is eroded by the waves, a sea erosion arch bridge is formed. The sea erosion arch bridge collapses, and as a result, a sea erosion column, that is, a rock column above the sea surface may be formed.
