Albania is bordered by Italy on the west by the Adriatic Sea and the Strait of Otranto, Greece to the south, Macedonia to the east, Serbia to the northeast and montenegro to the north. The capital, Tirana, has the international code al.
The ancestors of the Albanians were Illyrians, one of the ancient peoples of the Balkan Peninsula, which began to form several feudal principalities in the late 1680s, ruled by the Ottoman Empire for nearly 500 years from 1415, became independent in 1912, established the Kingdom of Albania in 1928, established the People's Republic of Albania on January 11, 1946, renamed the Socialist People's Republic of Albania in 1976, and changed to the Republic of Albania from 1991.
The flag of Albania is painted with a black two-headed eagle, along the seal of scandeephoe, the leader who resisted the Ottoman invasion in the 15th century, so the eagle is the symbol of the national hero Skander, so Albania is also known as the "country of mountain eagles". Albania is one of the least developed and low-income countries in Europe, but has improved significantly in recent years. In June 2014, the European Union accepted Albania as a candidate for the European Union.
On 21 March 2018, the Council of Ministers of Albania announced that from 1 April to 31 October, citizens of China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Belarus, Georgia, Qatar, Oman, Thailand and Bahrain with ordinary passports can enter Albania without a visa for a period of no more than 90 days.
