In response to soaring inflation, the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Argentina has agreed to issue a new version of the 2,000 pesos banknote in circulation, which is also part of the new Argentine character banknote series, and the specific date of issuance is unknown (subject to the actual product).
The new edition of 2000 pesos, entitled "The Development of Science and Medicine in Argentina", features portraits of Argentine medical pioneers Cecilia Grierson and Ramón Carrillo on the obverse and a partial exterior of the National Institute of Microbiology of Dr. Carlos Gregorio Marbran, on the reverse. Cecilia Grierson is an Argentine physician and women's rights supporter, and the first woman in Argentina to earn a medical degree. Dr. Ramón Carrillo was a neurosurgeon, neurobiologist, health doctor and the first Minister of Health of Argentina, who worked on the development of social medicine (health), starting from the social concept of medicine, which brought about a great transformation of public health in Argentina. He is recognized for his ideas, principles and foundations of action that "all people have an equal right to life and health".
Dr. Carlos Malbran, the Authority of the National Laboratory and Institute of Health, a decentralized public agency whose basic mission is to participate in scientific and technological policy related to public health, was formally established in 1893 to produce biological products to combat infectious diseases. |
