Ramadan refers to the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, called 'Ramadan' in Arabic. According to Islamic teachings, Ramadan is a great, festive, auspicious, and honorable month because Allah revealed the Quran to Muslims during this month.

One of the main Islamic holidays. Along with Eid al-Adha, it is considered one of the two major Islamic festivals. The literal translation of the Arabic term 'Eid al-Fitr.' In Persian, it is called 'Roozi' (Feast of Breaking the Fast). Adult Muslim men and women fast for one month each year during the 9th month of the Islamic lunar calendar (commonly known as 'Ramadan'), abstaining from food, sexual relations, and all improper acts from before dawn until after sunset to practice self-reflection and cleanse sin. According to Muhammad's advice on 'beginning the fast upon sighting the new moon and breaking it upon seeing the new moon,' Ramadan begins with the appearance of the new moon at the start of the 9th month of the Islamic calendar and ends when the new moon of the 10th month is sighted. The main rituals of Eid al-Fitr include: (1) Eating a small meal. Muslims eat a little after the morning prayer on this day to signify the completion of the fast and to give thanks to Allah. (2) Giving the Eid al-Fitr charity..Charity, either assisting the poor or donating to a mosque. (3) Holding the congregational prayer. On the morning of the day, Muslims bathe and dress in their finest clothes, silently reciting praises in their hearts, and gather for grand congregational prayer ceremonies at the largest mosque in the area. If there are too many participants, the prayer may be moved to a square or an open field. After the prayer, Muslims shake hands, recite praises for the Prophet together, and exchange greetings. In addition to the main rituals, Muslims also host feasts for friends and relatives, and neighbors exchange holiday foods. Some Muslims recite the Quran at home, praying for blessings and safety for their family; others visit graves to recite prayers in memory of the deceased. Muslims who speak Mandarin in China regard Eid al-Fitr as a grand festival, calling it 'Dà'ěrde' (meaning Great Festival)..The various Muslim ethnic groups in the Xinjiang region refer to Eid al-Fitr as 'Roucizi' and also call this festival 'Xiao’erde' (meaning 'small festival').
